Health Outcomes Research Division

Introduction

The Health Outcomes Research Division is founded on the postulate that health care providers are increasingly required to account for the resources they use. In order to do so they must devise ways of measuring the outcomes of their activities and the extent, to which these meet specified objectives, be they medical, social or financial. In the event of new financing options being introduced within the health care industry, measurement of and accountability for resources used will be of utmost importance. As such, this will involve both the public and private sectors. The services rendered by the Division are anticipated to reach out beyond the boundaries of the MOH but will also include those in the private sector related to the provision of healthcare.

The functions of the division are:

  • To promote, coordinate and conduct of research and development of health outcomes research in the following areas:
    • Population-based and clinical-based programmes and interventions
