H1N1

Malaysia is preparing itself for the second wave of H1N1 outbreak. The first wave of H1N1 which began in April 2009 had barely subsided. The Institute for Health Systems Research had undertaken a proactive approach by embarking upon a media review study of H1N1 reported in local newspapers. The study involved both a retrospective and prospective approach. A total of six local newspapers have been and are still being reviewed.

 

The first report from this study is expected to be ready by mid-February 2010. Information from this study may contribute towards an improved future management of the outbreak. The principal investigator in this study is a senior researcher of the Institute, Ms Haniza Mohd. Anuar.
